Re: grazing in badlands?

Been trying to log in to respond, but met with 'too many log in attempts' fun. So, to answer the question, yes, grazing is allowed in designated Wilderness and the livestock observed in the locality mentioned is legal within allowable limits and is subject to permit restrictions. Wilderness designa...

Re: Dry River Canyon Closing for the Season

As of today, the canyon is now closed to allow the critters to peaceably rear their young. It will likely re-open in July but could be as late as August 31, 2010.

Thank you cache owners for temporarily disabling your caches in the canyon. It is much appreciated.

Re: List of Badlands caches

We've put a few internal signs in the Badlands, but only concentrated around the Flatiron Rock and Badlands Rock trails so far. We've also put some external directional signs in over the last 6 months with a few more of these to come, especially along highway 20.

Re: Dry River Canyon Closing for the Season

PMOGUY is right hiking east to west is a good way to go. I'd also add that if you do leave a rig on the east end, that you park off of the state highway right-of-way. You can park at the BLM kiosk on Evans Well Road and Hwy 20 and carefully cross the highway. Few actually do the speed limit here.

oh yeah...

logscaler... sort of off topic, but, I'm told the online BLM interactive maps you're seeking are forthcoming in the next few months. When it is posted, it may likely be accessible through here:

Wish it would be sooner, too...
