How do I get bold type and other similar features in my cache descriptions?

On the Report a new Cache form check the box, "The descriptions below are in HTML," and use standard HTML tags.

Geocaching.com allows only a subset of HTML. Illegal tags are stripped out when the cache description is submitted. There are several primers that describe permitted tags such as this one from GizmoGuy411.

Used sparingly HTML can make a cache page easier to read and more appealing.

I have discovered a free nifty add-on if you use Firefox as your browser. It is called Write Area. After downloading and installing, each time you want to fill in a box on the internet (such as the descriptions on the report a cache page) just right click and open the Write Area. It is just like using MS Word - very easy to add bold, italic, change fonts, add color, and it makes it VERY easy to add a link (to another cache or maybe another website). I have found it cuts my time in half when I am reporting new caches. Here is one of our latest caches done this way... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=c2ef9c23-8334-4ae2-86be-4b083690138d

Just remember to check the box that says "descriptions below are in HTML".
