Anyone in central oregon want to fetch up a TB??

Postby Rope Stretcher on Mon Sep 21, 2009 4:37 pm

Howdy Central Oregon Cachers,
I received the following email from "KaiMok" and I won't be able to get out to this cache for a while. If anyone is planning to go bag caches east of Bend, maybe you could help this cacher out? The bug is in the cache GC1NHHJ Wagons Ho! Aldridge Road:

I am checking on my TB fleet today. One of them, MOOvin' On, was left in your Wagons Ho! Aldridge Road cache on 3/24/09. According to the cache info. page it is still there. Since 3/24 there have been only two other visits by cachers, 3/26 and 3/29. Perhaps this has something to do with a 3 mile hike?

I would like to get this TB back on the road again. Is there anything you can do to facilitate this?

If you do pick up this TB and don't want to bother with placing it in another cache please mail it to me at:
(you can contact rope stretcher via this board if you want to mail it and I will give you KaiMok's contact details I left out here)
Your help is greatly appreciated.

3 mile hike. Man, that'll keep most cachers at a distance.

I've currently got 2 bugs in my caches that have been there over a year. I feel bad, but since when has it been the cache owner's responsibility to move them along? Plus, their snug as... well.. a BUG in there.

They can ask. It would be an easy mountain bike ride if someone were so inclined. I'd bet one or both of the travelers listed is not there, though.

If I lived a little closer I'd walk or ride a bike. Last week I walked 11 miles RT up and back from the top of Maiden Peak.

I will go take a look...this is a very interesting looking cache anyway. BTW...I cannot believe no one has responded yet. Sheesh, 3 miles level terrain... what is the big deal? It will be a day or two before I can get away from work but I'll take a look by weeks end.

The Mooving on TB was still in the cache. I have it and will find someplace to place it soon...maybe in one of my remote caches?? Just kidding...I'll find some TB Hotel or a cache that gets lots of hits like Ochoco Viewpoint. The TB was in a very cool cache BTW...well worth the trip to get it. =D>

Very Nice of you PMOGUY. I'm sure KaiMok will recognize the fact that you drove scores of miles from the Pine Mountain Observatory to take a big hike to fetch up the bug. Wish I could have been there. Nice weather in the desert now that the clouds scuff the sky and chase away the heat. This is about the time of year (early October) that the 1000 person Elliott Wagon train was trundling down that very stretch of road in 1853. Did the wind bring hints of axles creaking and oxen groaning under their loads? Whenever I go out to that place, I feel like such a slackard, knowing what transpired along that dusty swath.

Ok....I have this "Mooving On" TB now and I want to place it in a TB Hotel or a busy cache so it will get picked up and moved on. I do not normally seek out this kind of cache as I prefer the out of the way ones. I'm headed to Lapine this afternoon to a beer tasting and was looking along the US 97 corridor for a good cache to drop this bug off...geesh, they are almost all micros along that route.... very sad  There is no way to "search" for TB motels on GC.com. Does anyone out there have any recommendations as to where to put this TB along the Bend Lapine stretch? If not I will go put it in Ochoco Viewpoint next time I am over that way.

Park at F.Y.I. (GCXK4K) find it then about 0.1 mi. NNW is the Paulina Travel Bug Hotel (GC1NZEZ). There are a few bugs in there that could be helped with their goals.
The first GPS I ever used weighed over 4 pounds and was made in Oregon.
